9th Inning Surge Gets Pilots 7-5 Win Over Jammers

A 9th inning surge by the Newark Pilots was enough to defeat the Jammers 7-5 in a late game battle at Diethrick Park. The Newark Pilots improve to 13-26 and the Jamestown Jammers fall to 27-11 (1st in West Division).

Jammers got off to a fast start by scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st as Skyler Valentine (UTSA) singled home a run to give the Jammers an early 1-0 lead.

Newark would take the lead in the top of the 3rd as the Jammers scored 2 runs on 3 hits. Graham Hackbarth (Pearl River CC) had an RBI single and Hunter Wells (Tyler JC) doubled home a run to take the 2-1 lead.

The Pilots would add to their lead in the top of the 5th as they again scored 2 runs in the frame as Over Torres (Yavapai) ripped a 2 run double to give the Pilots a 4-1 lead.

In the bottom of the 5th the Jammers would score a run on back to back doubles by Christ Conley (Canisius) and Ben Brookover (UTSA). 4-2 Pilots after 5.

The Jammers would tie the game up in the bottom of the 7th by scoring 2 runs on 4 hits and would take the lead in the bottom of the 8th as Ben Brookover (UTSA) had a big RBI single to give the Jammers a 5-4 lead going into the 9th.

The Jammers were unable to hold off the Pilots as Newark would go on to score 3 runs 2 hits in the top of the 9th to take the 7-5 lead. Kyle Griffen (Louisiana Tech) would shut the door for the Pilots as he threw a scoreless 9th inning.
