"It's Collegiate Summer Baseball, Minor League Style"

The Pilots recently concluded their second season in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL). After winning the PGCBL championship in 2011, the Pilots returned to the playoffs in 2012, but came up short. In 2011 the Pilots finished near the top of the league in attendance by having over 24,000 fans come out to Newark Pilots games. In 2012 we were able to improve on that number by having over 27,000 fans come through our gates. Our radio broadcasts of our games were the most listened to of any college summer league team with over 10,000 listeners. Also this past season we video broadcasted 8 of our games and had over 5,000 viewers.

Baseball is back in Newark to stay and it's bigger and better than ever as the Pilots return for year # 3 in the PGCBL. The league gets its name through a partnership with Perfect Game USA, which is the world's largest independent baseball scouting service and they actively assist teams in recruiting top college and junior-college prospects. This has helped to make the PGCBL one of the country's top collegiate summer baseball leagues in just a short amount of time. Joining the Newark Pilots will be the following ten teams:

The Pilots play their home games at renovated Colburn Park. Ballpark improvements conducted prior to last season by team owners, Bob and Leslie Ohmann, and the Village of Newark made the field the best surface in the league to play on as voted by PGCBL coaches and players. More improvements are being made each year.

Leading the Pilots on the field will be Head Coach Mike Armstrong of Amherst College. With an all-star mix of collegiate players from around the state and country, the Pilots are looking to once again be one of the elite teams of the PGCBL in 2013.

And if the exciting baseball action isn't enough, fans of all ages attending a Pilots game will experience a fun-filled night of entertainment that contains special promotions, zany on-field contests, music, and a mascot.
