Eagles Can’t Solve Tough Righty

Glens Falls, NY- The game started off looking like it would be an offensive show but turned out to be a pitchers duel in which the Golden Eagles southpaw Fernando Fernandez (New Mexico JC) flinched first. The Newark Pilots beat Glens Falls 4-1 and righty Robert Robbins (Stevens) recorded the win for the Pilots.

The dueling aces both gave up single first inning runs, Fernandez on a solo home run to center by Louis Silverio (Florida International) and Roberts gave up his run on an RBI single by Ryan Dodge (Nova Southeastern).

Both pitchers would toss up zeroes until the Pilots were able to scratch across 3 runs in the 4th inning. Zach Wall (Young Harris) ripped a double to the left center gap which scored Austin Clock (Cortland) and Tanner Geisel (Southeastern CC). Wall would eventually score on a passed ball by catcher John Lynn (Wagner).

The Eagles’ bullpen, specifically Jack Fowler (Felician) and Kevin Cowan (William Patterson), kept the Eagles in the game as they held the Pilots scoreless after the 4th inning and allowed only 3 hits over the final half of the game; however Robbins and Travis Laitar (Cortland) didn’t allow many baserunners and surrendered only 4 hits all game.
